There was a lady on the news that was charged with throwing a BOMB because she got mad and threw a cup of ice water at a car. She was convicted of a felony for this.

Craaaazaaay.

Yeah, the lady you're talking about got mad at someone for flipping her off so she threw a McDonalds drink at the other car, which went in the window. It's apparently illegal to throw projectiles into other people's cars, and I heard she got something like 3 years in a minimum security jail. They don't mess around wherever she was...

Why don't you just carry a real gun with no ammo in it? How are they supposed to know it's not loaded?

This is the worst possible thing you can ever do. A gun isn't there so you can brandish it whenever you feel it will get you out of a situation. Brandishing is illegal. The only time a criminal will ever see my gun is right before he gets two shots to the body and one to the head.

This is how brandishing goes down in the real world: going back to the original post- crazy lady starts trying to ram your vehicle, you then brandish a gun (loaded or unloaded, it is still considered a deadly weapon), she calls the police, police show up and are confronted with the person who made the call (a lady in a Ford), he then sees you in your GTI and after a search locates the gun....guess what? You're going to jail.

Drawing your weapon is a last resort. Your option has to be to either shoot or suffer grave injury or death.

You seem to think that I want to just whip it out whenever and say, "Haha, no ammo!". I would use it as a last resort also, but instead wouldn't kill anyone. It would be to scare off attackers that hold a gun to my face. "What if you need to shoot them?" Use rubber bullets or those sand bag things (if they even make them for pistols). You could even use blanks, because multiple shots would scare the crap out of them, giving you enough time to flee.

I just don't want to kill anyone, because you could possibly get jail time, and even if you don't, you know that there are going to be a LOT of papers and angry relatives of the victim.

Well lucky for me, I live in a nice place and don't think I will ever need to carry. I'm not saying that bad stuff doesn't happen here, but I use extreme paranoia and quick thinking to avoid any situations like these, which only gets me so far.

Anyways, if shit like this goes down, I hope one of you guys are riding shotgun (pun intended)
