I don't know how you can rank ...And Justice for All so much higher than Master of Puppets. If I had to rank just Metallica albums:

1. Master of Puppets
2. Ride the LIghtning
3. Black Album
4. Kill 'em All
5. ...And Justice for all
6. and up anything that came out after the Black Album.

I had that very discussion with my supervisor while I was making that list.

I just liked Justice better. It has my 2 favorite Metallica songs on it and several great others. I can honestly think of no better Metallica song than One.

My favorite NIN album is (sorry for jumping on the bandwagon...) The Downward Spiral. All their new stuff is absolute shit.

If I were to put 500 songs on disks it would include the following...and no they are not ranked in favorite song.

Indeed, an impressive list.

I can't stand The Beetles, though. Or anything to do with Paul McCartney, really. Except the song "Live and Let Die" because I'm a big James Bond fan.

I think I've seen that list before... downloaded every single one of those songs back in my Kazaa days.

I downloaded a bunch of shit back in my Napster/usenet days.

In all honesty, I haven't downloaded a thing since then.

Out of your list, my personal faves ;D

Me and my younger brother both feel that old-school rock was definitely more creative and just wider. None of these new three-chord songs! But to go with my list (sorry, not 20, just 5. And maybe not the BEST 5, even in my mind, but top 5 at the moment).

5: Surfing With the Alien - Joe Satriani
4: Reign in Blood - Slayer
3: Master of Puppets - Metallica
2: Blue Blood - X Japan
1: Official Live:101 proof - Pantera

In no particular order...

Tool - Aenima
Minutemen - Double nickels on the dime (almost anything that Mike Watt is involved in)
Pink Floyd - Dark side of the moon
Dinosaur Jr. (older stuff) - You're living all over me
Kyuss - Welcome to Sky Valley

x2. I think S&M is a pretty cool album though; maybe I would put that at the top of my list.

i wouldnt underestimate some of the Metal artists of these days, im big int he underground metal scene and there are bands out there that hae very good songs and are structured very well. They also are very complex songs that not just anyone can play
