So I am thinking about investing in a GTI - there are a few threads here but I have some specific questions :) I am currently rolling in a Ford Docus SVT which is a pretty fun car - 6 speed manual. But the GTI looks like a blast - and VW's are very reliable so I've heard (Never owned one) I have a couple questions:

1.) Anyone out there have the Auto/Paddle shit option? How does it drive?
2.) What kind of Mileage am I looking at - pretty good?
3.) Does it run on high octane gas?

And the overall fun factor - do you get pushed back in your seat hard when you launch? Is the ride smooth at med/high speeds and turning?

Did you mean "Auto/Paddle shift option"? Just curious :D

Thanks in advance! Nice site here :)

Here in Germany we have only high octane compared to you in America (I've heard), so that should be no problem.

Yes, the turbo is amazing, when you drive a care with one the first time. You get used to it, but friends are always shocked by the power. 4 Days ago I drove on the Autobahn...it rained and I drove about constantly 210-220 kph where it was possible. The car is super-stable and you don't have any major vibrations. All in all, it's a great car to do long fast drives, too.
