I'm curious to know what you people have in their cars and more importantly if you think it is worth the monthly fee for the service.

I heard VW has signed a contract to exclusively install Sirius in their cars at a later date. As of right now you have the choice.

Haven't been that impressed with Sirius. I wish I could've gotten XM. My buddies at work won't shut up about it. I think Sirius is for Stern and talk show fans mostly. I've only found one station that I really like (Alt Nation) and I'm already getting sick of them playing the same songs over and over again. I have a really short commute to work so I don't listen to it much in the car, mostly on the internet at my desk, and you don't get a full range of stations there.

So in conclusion I'm not going to renew.

I have Sirius and if the reception was better I might continue to subscribe, but with the monthly cost of satellite radio over $10, I just don't think it's worth it.

As far as programming goes, in my opinion Sirius is SIGNIFICANTLY better than XM, I borrowed my bosses car with XM for a weekend and thought the selection was awful. I am pretty happy with the channels and overall selection on Sirius, but I seem to lose signal everytime I go under a tree or even have trees on either side of the road. That is not something I'm going to live with when I'm paying that much. Anyways, I'll use my 3 free months, but unless reception gets better or the price goes down, I will not renew the service.

Maybe the reception is so bad because I'm on the coast and am at the edge of the coverage area? What are other people's experiences with satellite reception around the US?

I have X/M and am not that impressed by the selection of stations. As for the quality of service it has been pretty good considering no matter what you have installed it is going to cut out when you are under a bridge. I was downtown Chicago with all the buildings, trees, etc. and drove 400 miles back home without a lapse in the service. But I don't think it is worth the monthly dues at least not while I have 6 Cd's worth of mp3's at my disposal and another 6 discs in the console.

Yeah Definitely not catching on, Sirius has a small 4 million sub. and is gaining crazy style. My guess is 5 or 6 million by the end of the year. I love my Sirius i have no problems. 12.95 ain't nothing to pay for great stations and great music.

I think a lot of people are like me though, and have relatively short commutes to work and thus not enough time to listen to much of anything. If I got a subscription I'd have to be listening to sat radio all the time to make it worthwhile and that would mean not ever using my 6 disk MP3 changer or listening to normal radio. I like listening to normal radio cause it's local and there's funny morning shows and they broadcast hockey games at night.

With the invention of the ipod I don't know why anyone needs Sat. radio, my mom has it on her new Jetta, but I use my ipod whenever I'm driving her car. Sat. radio really isnt worth it for me, and I wish that I didn't have to pay for it to be a part of Package 2, I won't ever use it.

Anybody with me on petitioning VW for a $400 satellite radio refund. I wonder what kick back VW gets from the sat. radio companies for pushing the radios.

VW owners only get a 3 month trial - I just saw a commercial on TV that you get 3 years free with your sat. radio when you buy a Mercury. But then who wants a Mercury???

i'm down with that. i had a sirius plug-n-play before i got my gti and it had package two and i got stuck with XM. Now i have both and i still like sirius better. if they are dealing exclusively with sirius now, i think that we should at least be able to change out our radios for free or a minimal shop fee.

I've had XM for a few years and love the talk stuff and if you love baseball like I do, XM is awesome. I pick up my new United Gray MkV this week and it has Sirrius...I'll give it a shot for stern and the talk stuff but will miss MLB.

i have the xm, other then O&A and channel 26 or 25 there is nothing on. i like the baseball channels because i am a huge bosox fan, and i am completely no where near boston, but i never drive between 7 and 10 to hear it.

there is really no reason for me to pay for it because O&A are free now on the regular radio now, and with only a 25 minute commute it makes no sense for me to pay for it.
