I've received over 50 emails from members saying they would like to have MyFastGTI completely safe for work. This morning, I received a mail that was very upsetting. A member was wrote up at work because of our NSFW thread , even though he wasn't on it, it was still part of the site and they blocked MFG. This is not the first member who was disciplined because of something like this. I had a friend wrote up at work for being on MFG a few months ago. I'd like to find some type of solution as they are our friends and co-members. How does everyone feel about making MyFastGTI as safe as possible to be accessed from work?

These are the things that would be removed: inappropriate pics, profanity filtered (you could still remove the censors in your control panel) and sexual innuendos.

I don't mind if some stuff is NSFW as long as it's only PG-13... O0

It really makes no difference to me, but work is for work, not for, well, you know. Get the nudity out, keep the rest. [pissed]

I agree with this 100%. The reason I made a NSFW Board was because stuff kept popping up and I was afraid that someone was going to get fired over it. But now I'm thinking, hell, that crap doesn't have a place on a car site anyway. I like getting on MFG at work, but I'm monitored too and afraid something is going to be on a thread and IT is going to catch it. So I usually only access it at lunch through my laptop. I know there are a lot of members who access the site from work. I just can't see someone getting canned over coming here.

I can set the censor filters to censor most profanity, (unless you turn it off on your control panel) and if we keep the rest of the crap off. We'll be 100% Work safe. I could even put that into our description and we'd probably get a lot more members.

Keep voting, I really want everyone to have a voice here.

Thanks,

FF

Maybe I have issues...or a tough outlook on life but I'm an adult and I don't get offended by pictures or profanity easily. If you don't want to see that gore...don't open it. I have issues with sensorship I suppose. Will I stop coming here if it is 100% SFW....hell no, I love this site but I enjoy being treated as an adult who can make sound decisions on my own. (i.e. don't open any of Dragons posts when at work. ;D)

:twofinger ;D

FF- is there anyway to make the NSFW section visible only to registered members and not show up in the recent post (so no one accidentally clicks on a NSF post)?

Like I said, I don't need to see porn, but some stuff, which has adult content w/o being rated X should have an appropraite spot and should be CLEARLY marked NSFW before anyone clicks on it.

I didn't know there was a NSFW section on here. I have never seen anything on this site that would be inappropriate for the work place. Where are you keeping the 'good stuff'?

I'd like to see it 100% safe for work, and everywhere else for that matter. There are plenty of other forums where the "not safe" content can be found, and I just don't think it is needed to keep MFG popular, useful, and relevant. Will I stop visiting MFG if Freddie keeps NSFW? Not yet, but maybe down the road.

Freddie-Thanks for considering this and asking for our opinion. I think we all appreciate that regardless of our opinion on NSFW.

It doesn't have anything to do with "censorship" or Being treated like an "Adult". It has to do with helping your fellow GTI owner/ enthusiast spend more time on MFG talking about GTIs with you. I think that's what 99% of the members come here for. Dragon's probably the only one who comes for the NSFW thread ;) Just kidding Dragon.

I will reiterate my post in the NSFW test Dragon posted, which I see has been removed.

I have no problem with nudity, profanity, etc, but I don't find the NSFW topic adding value to the site. And if it gets some people in trouble at work, or if the site is filtered at work via THE MAN, I think it is a shame. I can see why FF is concerned.

To me, this is a site for car enthusiasts with a mix of pop culture thrown in - I don't visit this site to get my freak on. If it NSFW stays, I will ignore it like I did before.

Sorry, didn't mean to come across as a grouch. ??? I'm just really concerned that some of the posts could actually cost someone their job. And that would be really crappy. It might not even be a regular member. It could be someone who just bought a new GTI, They type in VW GTI Forum, clicks a link to a thread that looks innocent enough, and WHAM! they get fired because of some stupid picture.

I know it may be a little inconvenient for some of you. But I think more bosses won't mind people accessing MFG at work if we add a "this site safe for work" logo so they know it is Work Safe. I know at least 12 businesses that have the golf site banned because of content. And that's just on Canyon Road in Beaverton :D .
