Check this out. I got this in the mail about a month ago and just now got around to posting it.

In the City of Philadelphia they recently installed those cameras that take your picture as you actually run a red light. No way to deny it, No way to argue it. Your just beat! The system was intended to stop accidents caused by people running red lights. Get this!! It has now been said that the system has caused more accidents at these intersections due to people slaming on there brakes the second the light changes to yellow and causing a rear end collision. Your tax dollars hard at work.

Turns out whoever said 'a picture is worth a thousand words'.....there wrong! It's only worth a hundread bucks!!

Ouch. We've got them in Wilmington NC as well, and its the same thing.. people slow down at the intersection if they think its about to turn yellow, and they slam on the brakes if it does.. Guess you're guilty in those shots tho.. ;D

not in the unrestricted parts of the autobahn though!
There are no unrestricted parts of any autobahn. On any spot at any time on the autobahn they can enforce a speed limit for whatever reason.

They've had red light cameras for nearly 10 years where I live. They seem to work fine. A lot less yellows get run now. People know where they all are anyway, they're in huge boxes next to the intersection, so when you come up to an intersection with a RLC you slow down to below speed limit so that when it turns yellow you can stop without burning any rubber. I just wish they made it so that every intersection with a RLC has to have a flashing warning light thingy before it to warn when it's about to change.

True, to the fact that red light cameras are there to deter people from running red lights, I guess after some amount of time you just become 'trained' to where they are. More importantly not to act like an idiot at those intersections. (Whoops!!) There are 5 RLC in the city used as part of a pilot program to see if they would work. They have been in service a little less than one year.....but I do agree, there should be some sort of a countdown timer or something.

There are no unrestricted parts of any autobahn, Bull Shit. When was the last time you drove on the Bahn Thalo?. On some parts of the Bahn the speed limit is set at 120kph constantly. And in those areas it is enforced at times by a camera car parked on the side of the road that takes your pic if you exceed the speed limit. Mach mal deine Hausaufgaben.

Here is a little info on the German Autobahn. I work for a German company and I have the pleasure of making my way to Germany about twice a year for business. There are speed limits for different vehicles and there are certain areas where there are speed limits for all vehicles. The recommended speed limit on the autobahn is 130 km/hr (or in other words 80 mph)

I wasn't sure how much of the autobahn is unrestricted, so I turn to the internet. According to www.wikipedia.com only 40% of the autobahn is unrestricted. I've posted a link below, check it out. :)

I'm not talking about permanent speed limits. Everywhere on the Autobahn there are light sign thingies over the road. Most of the time they are blank and you don't notice them but they can be used to enforce a speed liimit for any stretch of road if it becomes congested or if there is construction or whatnot. I've driven on the Autobahn all over Germany, from Hamburg to Bavaria, and it's the same everywhere. I would say about 75% of the time you can do over 200km/h no problem, but they can slow you down anywhere at any time and then they're very stringent on speeders.

I don't mean to sound like I'm part of Thalo's fan club or anything, but if you read his statement he didn't say that there weren't any restricted parts, he said:

NO unrestricted parts... that means that there are not any UNrestricted parts... therefore there are restricted parts.

But whatever. I won't be driving on the Autobahn anytime soon so it doesn't matter.

the end. (for me on this post anyway)

$100 is cheap. Here in SoCal, that tic will set ya back $370!!! Ouch! Anybody out there ever use that spray "photoblocker" advertised in the back of car mags? Does it work, worth the money, etc? Any other products, like maybe a lic. plate cover, that prevents the man from gettin your tag. Need to here from you...

yeah, I have done my own experiments, being a police intern last summer i found out that all of that stuff to beat police cameras is bunk as well as all of the stuff to beat the radar/laser. Also radar detectors are usualy not that effective because once it goes off it is too late and the cop has a reading.
