Okay, we were hit by a whole team of hackers. Seems they sent an email that had a trojan attached to my home computer. That is how they gained access. It was an unknown virus so it didn't come up in virus scan. We still wouldn't have known this except they hit us again when we put the site up this morning. Our programming and database experts are still trying to fix the latest backup to try to restore the site completely. But at least we found out their way in, it's blocked and our security is strong again. Some of you may have to reregister until we can get the problems fixed. This was the newest backup with no hint of the hacker's code.

Sorry to hear the site was hacked. About the re-build... you say in the opening to this thread that some users will have to re-register until everything gets fixed. I was a new member before the hack, and apparently am one of the ones that has to re-register. I did so using the same un and pw that i had before.

My question is: will things go back to normal once everything is fixed? Such as the "unread posts since last visit", "show new replies to your posts", and the rest of my profile info? Or am i starting from scratch?

It's no biggie if i do have to restart with posting stats and stuff like that... i'd just like to know because if my old "show new replies to your posts" list doesn't come back then there are a few messages that i posted that i'm looking for replies to that i'd like to repost if necessary.

Sorry guys, I've been without much sleep for the last few days trying to fix a site backup. I had been backing up the whole domain through plesk 8.0 It downloads a backup automatically each night into my home computer. What fucked us was they got into my home computer accessing all backups and passwords that allowed them full access. Once in, their team destroyed everything in sight. I try to burn backups every week. The problem is, they have had access since the last of July, so everything was corrupted. I'm still working to try to get the backup from september to work.

I sent the backups from september to a guy that specializes in mysql databases. He's working on it now. I couldn't fix it my self. I tried. Now I'm just tired and frustrated. So I'm letting him have a crack at it.

PS, I'm also making full backups at least once a week on disc. So maybe that will save out ass next time.

I'm working on fixing the attachments too. pics, images, avatars. They deleted most of the images and videos on my computer. I have somethings backed up on DVD so I'll see what I can salvage.
