Hi, Ive been searching the net for a good community for a couple of days now and it seems like I've struck gold. I'm considering a GTI as my next car. I currently own a 2003 Acura CLS. I'm on my third transmission with this car and will never purchase another Acura. The transmission is a known issue but instead of fixing the transmission they just continue to give you broken transmissions until 100k miles.

Hopefully Ill have word in the next day or so on a new job. I'll have to commute about 40-60 minutes for this new job. Im looking for an everyday car that I can keep past 100k miles. Needless to say that Im weary of getting another car and just want something that's reliable.

I'm just looking for some insight and wisdom from you guys. Im 22 and I learned my lesson with my previous car. Are there any chronic issues with GTI's that I need to be aware of?

Hopefully in the next month or so Ill be a proud owner of a GTI and a member of this community.

Same here,
bought mine in April, just rolled over 17500 miles and I have had zero problems.. but keep in mind, The GTI isn't merely an everyday car, like the KIA Rio or something, its an everyday addiction My therapist says admitting that is the first step in the recovery process ;D
