So i changed my oil @ 3200 miles cause i am anal about it, When i did the first change i contacted the dealer and asked what they were using. They said they were putting Mobil 1 0w40 in the new 2.0t, i figured since it was VW502.00 certified that it was a good choice, plus thin for fast delivery. I noticed A large amount of consumption in the next 3000 miles. Almost a quart was added to keep it up to full on the end. I was checking for leaking from the filter and the plug nearly everyday, so i know i wasn't driping. The dealership said that extra consumption is normal due to break in. but at this point i was 3000 mile outta the break in period. I just put in amsoil 5w30 full syn. I was just wondering if anyone else has anything to add that might give me an idea what would be a good idea for oil

I'll let you know once I come due for service. I'm planning on using Mobil One 0-40w.

I would agree that it is probably due to engine break in. Some engines just eat it up more than others. I had a 2004 Porsche 996 that used the same oil and it would still consume oil well out of the break in period.

I'm still using "stock" oil. Just about to pass the 5000km mark (8000 is recommended service), so that'll probably be in the fall and I'll probably put in which ever oil doesn't freeze at -20

After quite a bit of research I decided to run German Castrol syntec 0-30. It's the only syntec made in Germany of a true synthetic base stock. Very highly rated on www.bobistheoilguy.com and many consider it the standard. I finally found it at Autozone for $5.49 a quart. It's considered a "heavy" 30 weight. Just had it changed at the dealer at 4300 miles and plan to send a sample of my old oil to Blackstone Oil labs.

yea i know what can i say i love driving.. i live far away from all my friends we all moved off and out to far off places! i've done 24,800 miles since i took delivery May 18th 2005 ;D i've kinda given up hope on lowering the millage! just keeps creaping up.

on the plus side for all you guys i've had NO problem with the car at all. other than re-gassing my air con cause it smelt like a farm one morning was so smelly.... i guess iv've done 2 years millage in it so the air cons done 2 years of work - and they say you should re-gas every 2 years so..... Oh and its much colder now too!

tyres... i changed my fonts at 22,000 (and trust me ai drive it hard) they where 225/40 R18 Continental's changed those for michelin sports.

rear tyres still have half the tread depth on them i'm told tho.. since i got the chip + moved them to the front... they are looking less healthy ::) ::)

:)
