hi. since i've been asking a lot of questions about a lot of things and it seems like im the only one in the world that doesnt kno, i thought that i'd make just a general noobie questions thread . ( if im the only one asking questions here im gonna be really sad)


ok well this is my first stick and a turbo car, and i had some questions about the clutch. i also learned how to drive on this car and its been through a lot since i got it (stalling, gear grinding, and all that horrible stuff). i feel like my clutch is becoming loose in a way, it just doesnt feel like it used to when i first got it. what should i do? if i have to replace the clutch will it be expensive? Thnkx before-hand for all the tips and advice.

Wow... You learned to drive in this car? First car.. learned to drive in it... first stick... and first turbo. Although I don't care too much for my first car (2003 Lancer OZ Rally... 120 HP w/ no turbo), I'm glad I had it. I drove that ridiculously small car for 3 years. I learned to drive in a stick shift cavalier before that. I dunno... GTI seems like too good of a car to be learning to drive in or learn stick in. It's like that Volvo commercial, why would you teach your daughter to drive in such a nice car? Anyway.. I glad I had my car... It gave me enough experience to be able to handle such a car . Oh well... Lucky kid with his first car being a GTI. Good job kid. Especially on the "noobie" part. hahaha ;D

The man at the dealership told me that it is $2,000 for a new clutch. But if you drive it properly, it should easily last for 80-100k miles.

By "loose" do you mean that it just is a little less resistant when you step on it? Generally on a new car the clutch is a bit "heavier" or stiffer, you have to push down a little harder, and as it gets worn in it becomes easier to push down.

ya its less resistant but i dont think its on the verge of being completly worn out, thnkx though now i'll be more aware of my clutch

i was gonna ask a question about the Eurojet MKV Engine Amplification Pipe but theres a whole thread on it.. $100 for bettter sound and better throttle response doesnt sound so bad does it?

haha. my girl's first stick car was an '04 r32. i had to drive it off the lot for her when she bought it and give her an afternoon crash course in driving stick cause she had to drive it to work and school the next morning.

she did just fine....and i have the spare key...
