Once a week or so (sometimes more), when I start the car, my radio displays "NO SATELITE RADIO". Sometimes I get a normal display but only hear white noise. I can usually fix the NO SATELITE RADIO thing by playing with it (off/on) for a while. The white noise thing can only be corrected by shutting the car down and restarting it a few minutes later.

I know that other SIRIUS users are having the same problem. My question is: Are XM users experiencing this? SIRIUS blames this on VW. VW is playing ignorant. If this is just happening with SIRIUS, I know how to fix it for $50. I think the Playboy c\hannel is lame and I hate Howard Stern so switching to XM is not a problem.

What say XM users? Are you getting this, also?

hah. i use to listen to stern in the morning in my dads car before i got my GTI . pretty funny stuff. i dont even use my radio now unless its sunday and football is on

I have XM in my GTi and I have the same problem. I can usually wait a few minutes (and can listen to CDs or something in the meantime :) and then try again and the satellite radio will work.

I have NO proof of this, but I suspect that it is a reception problem. I think that I just have to wait until the radio realizes that the satellite is still in the sky or can pick up the terrestrial broadcast before it will work.

Just my $0.02 worth.

I also have XM, same problem. It is not a reception thing because I have had 3 other XM radios and never had the problem before. My guess is there is a problem with the antenna wiring.

Howard Stern is a talentless hack. He is washed up. If you want to listen to a honest, funny morning show, tune in to XM 202, the Virus with Opie and Anthony. Your mom's box.

Swap the head unit. It's a piece of crap. Howard rules. You'll realize that when XM goes bankrupt . 5.5 million sirius listeners and counting.

My vote is for Howard... Ive been listening to Sirius for 3 years now and it just keeps getting better. I listened to O&A for a couple days when on a long drive and they sound like a couple of A-holes doing a show from a college dorm. To me the quality both through the SAT and online is better with Sirius. The kb per second for the online listening is higher than XM's. Anyone want a XM decoder or a Sirius one???

This isn't about which is better or who is better. This is about the fact that BOTH XM and Sirius sat radios have the problem with the stock head unit. It is an issue that VW doesn't want to address so we are all just going to have to live with it for now. Besides there really is no argument here, O&A are better, end of story. But this isn't about that...

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO GET THE ANTENNA FIN AT? the part that points up broke off on mine because i went under a gate and i guess that little piece that sticks up didnt make it hah. so now i got a hole there. so anyone know where to get a replacement one or even an aftermarket one? thanks

its one of those guard gates. it hit my upper windshield (inching under it) but then the metal gate starting closing so i had to speed it up and yeah... took off the intenna hah.

When XM goes bankrupt??? Take a look at Sirius buddy. Sirius' stock is doing much worse and Howard does definitely not rule. 7 million XM listeners and counting!

ps-Sirius counts unsold cars in the lot with Sirius in them as listeners. BS!!!

Sorry this is off topic, but this enrages me! I have had both XM and Sirius, XM's sound quality (and signal strength for that matter) is much better. Everyone keeps saying that Howard is better, but never has a reason why. Opie and Anthony are real, they don't lie to they're listeners for better ratings like Howard. O&A don't have a worthless c*** sitting in a dunk tank reading the news and just agreeing with every word they say. All Howard does anymore is have strippers and porn stars come in and talk. Awesome! I always wanted to know whta it was like to get slammed anally by 500 guys in the same day. I'll admit, Howard was great....in the early 90's. Times are a changing grandpa, O&A are the future!
