I finally got the time today to go to the shop and install some Neuspeed parts that have been decorating my living room for two weeks. I had a P-Flow Intake, Turbo Discharge Conversion, and Intercooler Pipe. I started with the latter two, knowing that the intake would be the easiest; or so I thought:
I didn't actually have too much trouble installing the P-Flow, I just got a bum part from Neuspeed. The whole project went as smooth as can be expected, and I hardly paid attention when putting my MAF sensor into the P-Flow pipe. Quite pleased with how it all looked, I went to start the car and back out of the stall, but no dice. It stalled instantly on each of three attempts to start. I checked under the hood to make sure I hadn't knocked loose a vacuum line and that I had reinstalled all my electrical connectors. Tried again, with a little throttle this time, and it started but badly. Again when I lifted my foot off the throttle, it died.
So now I did a good check of the installation, took the MAF sensor out to make sure I hadn't damaged it, and it was installed backwards. In Neuspeed's instructions, it makes a point that the MAF can only be installed one way (and they're right), but apparently the unit I got has the sensor mount welded in backwards. Just my luck.
Two questions:
1) Has anyone else had this happen?
2) What's the best way to reset my CEL? I don't have access to a VAG-COM, but I am willing to disco the battery temporarily. I would just prefer if there's a secret combination of turning the car on and off and whatever.
