Wow how about you look at the facts before you open your mouth cuz you just look like a retatred, stock Gti 0 to 60 6.5 stock wrx 0 to 60 4.8 ya hum... I can't tell what's faster, then off the line the wrx will always win because the front wheel drive has awful grip, next thing is the wrx weighs almost 600 pounds less! Now do miss my Gti yes, as a daily driver car it's is by leaps and bounds better, but when there is snow or it's wet or when you smoke a corvette that's when it comes into its own, plz look up specs on the 11-12 wrx before you state false info, really wow. My injectors are cosworth injectors so bet you don't known what they are running, but if you look at the Cobb stage 2 wrx you can see all the specs you want if your still scepical :)
Those 235/45/17 in snow arent that great. You won't go anywhere. Summer AWD tires SUCK IN THE WINTER..

Alright. Good point.

FFFahrenheit, sorry man. You're entitled to your opinion. The WRX is a very fast car for the money (26-28k). The gearing matched with the turbo motor results in a very quick 0-60.

The GTI is a heavy car for being smaller and only 2 wheel drive @ 3162. (The 3800lb you were implying is full weight I beleive).

I loved my WRX, I really did. The community of Subie owners is pretty cool. I never really tried to hang out with any GTI people...they look different though. (Main demographic for WRX 22-30 y/o male....then again a lot of **** subie gals....hence "official lesbian car")

I will agree stock for stock, the GTI stands no chance off road, in a drag, or even in an auto-x. Are they similar in price? Yeah..but I learned you really get what you pay for. While the WRX is very quick, it lacks quite a bit of refinement. It's kind of practical, but not nearly as the GTI. I also got 25.5 mpg's in the WRX and only 29-30 in the GTI which leaves me scratching my head sometimes.

Now the only thing I will inform you of is a car with the same weight as another (relatively) 400-300hp...there is no way the 300 hp car is going to win...unless you are only racing from a dig to like 70 mph. (The WRX benefits from 1 shift to hit 67ish mpH)
And I won't agree with the WRX "smoking a vette" I've tried, and that's not even close.

From a roll, and over the first 2 gears...there is no way the WRX will win. It really falls off its face after that.

Enjoy the car, make sure you keep up on the 5MT...it's a grenade. Good Luck [drive]

Many good thing here that people should know about the wrx being posted, the tranny is crap I'm at 12,000 miles and am on my second one, going to get a new clutch tomorrow got to love that warranty, my dad has a 997 turbo and every time I can beat him up tell 80 mph then the car really falls off, same with the vet my roommate has one but I can stay ahead of that tell almost 100, the tires ya the ones that came one the car just plain do not work in the snow at all!!! They are like slicks haha, so had to get snow tires but not a big deal. Yes my 400hp gti was faster if I was stating from a roll around 40 or 60 but the 99% of the time the wrx is faster because of the traction and low speeds around town. All this being said givin the choose again I would have got a gti-R ( when it comes ) over the wrx, need the awd, cuz VW's ate just so so so much better build and refined cars, I'm 22 and have had 10 different cars ranging from amg Mercedes and m bmw's to subarus and Hondas, VW is deffinaly my second favorite brand, first is Mercedes! I will not be getting another Subaru again lol
