i raced a 2004 wrx on the highway we were going about 85 then i dropped it into 4th then quickly into 5th we were like neck and neck going about 120 we had to slow down cause of i 2 stupid cars taking up the lanes we were in. I think the mkv can take a wrx in the long run def not off the line cause wrx awd.

With the same hp, is what you just said...remember they are putting that power to all wheels...so on a slick road who would win? Face it no one likes straight lines, they are boring unless you are accelerating to 300+ mph in 3 seconds...save it for the paved curves, that's what these cars are for.
I bought the GTI because I feel its a better daily driver but I'd rather take our WRX to the track anyday.

So to summarize:
GTI stereo > WRX stereo
GTI performance < WRX performance
Same here. I have a stage 2 (cobb) 2005 wrx and a 2008 GTI. I picked up the GTI as a daily driver because it was a more relaxing ride, but still caters to people with a taste for power, handling, and a nice interior.

I still like the WRX from a performance driving standpoint because it has a more "raw" feel where I feel more connected to both the car and the road.

I will say that the stock GTI suspension seems better than the WRX stock suspension.
2 spoilers is a 07, i have an 07 as well that i had cosworth build up for me, dropped quite a bit into it with my deployment money and im pushing 647
I just traded in my 07 gti for a 2011 WRX and it is simply amazing. the interior is crap compared to the gti but it has a stock 0 to 60 time of 4.7 seconds nough said right there. its AMAZING
Congrats! For 2011 you get the same flared fenders as the STI right? I'm waiting to see if the 216a comes to the US before I jump back into a Subaru.
ya it has the STI wide body kit on it. but the 216a isnt coming to america and it was co designed with Toyota so even if it was, i wouldn't go near the thing!!!

Dyno's can often give you crazy numbers (363.75ftlbs) you wouldn't expect.

this is my K04 on 91 file. Doesn't show torque b/c the op and I didn't know how to keep
the dsg from downshifting and he always started the pulls before the d/s.

The next is a week later after I figured out the downshift issue. Both are uncorrected...

Not sure what the point of that post was, but I'm running a 3.8 second 0 to 6 time. i didn't get even close to that in my stage 3 GTI. Sad but true, front wheel drive cars just can't put the power down and have a limit to the amount of power the car can have and maintain drivability
Not sure what the point of that post was,
Sorry about that. I forgot to quote from the previous page. There was some discussion about dyno results, and
I was trying to confirm "unexpected results" like that 363.75ftlbtq I got(uncorrected).
On topic; before my K04 went in, I raced a handful of wrx's(1 was a 2010) and a couple of sti's when I just had giac's 91oct pump file, an intake, and
muffler delete and didn't lose to any of them. I'm sure it'll happen some day, but don't mind trying...

i havent read any of the posts on this thread cause im in a rush lol. but i did a pull from 60 against a 2004 wrx in 3rd gear, and blew its doors off. im stage 2 though, but you should have no problem!
oh and i forgot, on the way home from visiting my dad in georgia ( the wrx was on the way there) , well on the way home i did a pull against a newer sti, not the new hatch ones, the gen before that. well i had half a car on him until 5th gear. i was actually surprised.

but i personally think he just was a new driver because he had a temp tag haha
I see that you both are noobs(at least to this forum) but the GTI has a HUGE disadvantage to the wrx because it is fwd vs awd. I have had a near as makes no difference 400hp GTI and now I have a 300hp 2011 wrx and it absolutely kicks its trash. Once you get into a race with the other driver is actually proficient in a stick he will win. I love the GTI, its a very refined and good car. The wrx is hard loud and cheap inside, but it can take on a 997 turbo and win, until 80 mph at least, and that's completely stock, just telling you guys to be carefully and don't get cocky, I did and it was embarising when I lost and bad

i dont consider myself getting cocky lol im just stating what happened. theyre two completely different cars, i would hope it would win lol
I romp on wrx's, awd is good for a launch, rolling pulls not so much.

You will get tired of the WRX. Coming from a WRX owner for the past 4 years, if you truly enjoy driving, will not enjoy the WRX. The Body roll in the WRX is absolutely annoying and understeer. Seats are ok, but they provide no support in corners. You spend more time bracing yourself in corners than anything. The brakes fade very quick, the power is great for the price though. Subarus are great in stock form (power wise), but no where close to the competition when modding . You have to do way more to the EJ255/7 to keep up with a 4B11 or 4g63. AWD is great for quick start, power really falls off into third gear. Clunky trans to boot. Basically boils down to you get what you pay for. If I had the money I would have spent the extra 7k and got the STI. Well worth it.
Wow dude, I just re read what you said. You are comparing a 400 hp car that weighs the same to a 300 hp car? Really? I loved my WRX but you are delusional. After 60 the WRX really falls off it's face. I'd also like to see this "stage 2 308 hp". Hows the injector duty cycle running? over 100% I'd bet. The only advantage with a WRX is AWD...that's it. From a dig. Keep launching that weak ass tranny street racing like a kid and I guarantee you are going to blow a clutch or that grenade 5 speed.

Quoted from you in this thread.

but while the GTI might not be the fastest we will look danm good as we are losing lol. but i can tell you this a gti with the same HP as a wrx, the gti will always win. a tale from experience ;D

So would you agree stock for stock an R32 MKV would be a fair match against a stock 2006 WRX? Even though the R32's heavier, it has a little bit more power.
Wow how about you look at the facts before you open your mouth cuz you just look like a retatred, stock Gti 0 to 60 6.5 stock wrx 0 to 60 4.8 ya hum... I can't tell what's faster, then off the line the wrx will always win because the front wheel drive has awful grip, next thing is the wrx weighs almost 600 pounds less! Now do miss my Gti yes, as a daily driver car it's is by leaps and bounds better, but when there is snow or it's wet or when you smoke a corvette that's when it comes into its own, plz look up specs on the 11-12 wrx before you state false info, really wow. My injectors are cosworth injectors so bet you don't known what they are running, but if you look at the Cobb stage 2 wrx you can see all the specs you want if your still scepical :)
I know for a fact that the 2011 has a faster 0-60 time. As far as curb weight they are the similar (3200 ish) And a stage 2 WRX won't come close to "smoking a corvette" or a 997. I had a stage 2 invidia tb and ran 13.1 multiple times at SIR in tucson az...compensare for elevation maybe 12.7 at sea level. Stage 2 is DP CB and tune...anything more isn't just stage 2. And lastly 2012 WRX/STI hasn't came out. The 2011 has a wide body kit like the STI, I know what I'm talking about. 2011 has same motor trans turbo as 09-11. Vf52 legacy style turbo with a tiny ass top mount.

Stock for stock, yes. R32 ****s all over WRX with refinement and everything else.
