Hey guys, I'm just curious as to if any of you guys knew of any decent - good aftermarket sites for the MKV GTI, as the title would suggest.

I'm speaking pretty much of a round aftermarket idea... chips, intakes, exhausts, and body kits.

Thanks for any ideas.

i am afreid to modify my gti in anyway. the dealer specifically told me any modifications with any non-vw parts will void the warantee. i traded in a rx8 for the gti, and it had a greddy exhaust on it. he specifically said if you do that to this car the warantee woudl be void. i am not touching this car unless it gets a vw part installed.

The problem would have to have a direct connection to the mod as I understand the warranty. i.e. :

aftermarket exhaust and moonroof broke..... no connection would not void warranty

aftermarket chip reprograms the boost to deliver 280hp, you blow your motor.......... voided warranty.

well I think they just would say that the car had more vibrations with the new exhaust if your moonroof breaks, instead of paying it for you...
As far as exhaust goes, I love the sound of the VW OEM exhaust on my GTI. Sounds much better than the coffee can crap the kids are putting on their riceburners.

A good site for VW parts: http://www.tmtuning.com/vw

The only way that your warranty will be void is if a part brakes as a result of the part you put on and the dealership has to prove that it was the part you put on and that only voids the warranty for that one part, not for the whole car...

I'm not new to the automotive industry for i'm a police and firetruck mechanic for the city of garden grove here in california and have 3 other cars to speak of..... all of whice are 1960's american cars though... all i had owned before was a honda civic and that was the extent of owning foreign cars.... i just purchased, and after researching the hell out of, my new 2007 Gti Fast and i LOVE IT!!! I'm curious as a mechanic myself what performance upgrades you guys recommend that aren't going to obliterate my fuel economy.... some loss is ok but i don't want to go from 26 mpg to 14 mpg all for 20-40 more horses..... i'm thinking intercooler, intake and exhaust will leave my fuel trims roughly the same..... your responses are greatly appreciated, Dale!!!

I haven't modded my car yet and a few guys will prob correct me on this, but if you add an intake you will prob get better gas mileage, since more oxygen is mixing in with your fuel...
In any case even if you get up to a Stage 2 chip like some people, your gas mileage will depend on how you drive your car
