So, I currently drive a 2005 base chevy cobalt coupe and if all goes well with getting a job here after graduation i want to pick up a new or used mkv gti. Any recommendations or what ever....Also should i get the 2 door or 4 door?

Yeah, I am only 5'10"so that is not that big of an issue, But i have had a 2 door cobalt for over a year now and i really like the big windows and doors.
