Hello Hot Hatch Enthusiasts,

My nephew has had some bad luck with cars and doesn't have a lot of money. He can drive a manual and I think it's time to get a ride he can be proud of and more importantly has an enthusiast community that loves and supports the cars. (Unlike his brokendown galant, and mom's accord).

We are looking at a 2004 VW Golf GTI:
Blue/Black
144k miles
VIN: 9BWDE61JX44009693
3 Owners (I think)

It is going through a wholesale auction so we will have limited time to inspect it. Here are the important questions:

1) What wear items or faulty issues should we look for immediately.
2) Other than changing all fluids what would be the immediate preventative items to work on.
3) What fair market for the car?

It looks damn sharp, and too good to be true tbh, and without further ado, here are the pictures:

theres a lot of info about these motors there strong and run really well. check the timing belt and exhaust cam chain, it can be done by pulling the clips for the upper cover simple enough. other wise unless you can actual drive it there really solid cars. as for price nothing over 4500. fair market value is about 5500 and whole sale buying price is closer to 2500.
