I have heard rumors that the U.S. version will get launch control for the '07 model, anybody else heard anything about this?

Just get the 06 model and wait for the 07 model to come out and then trade it in for the newer one. (well if you have a lease that is)

I belive that the launch control will only be available on the DSG models but I could be wrong

purchased my Fast two weeks ago on 10-9-06...2007 model with DSG...I was told that ALL DSG equipped GTI's will be retro fitted with the launch control when VW releases it to the US in the next few months...also told that it will be "no cost" for me...not sure about the cost, if any on the 2006 models... ;D

What is launch control anyways? I bought my 2007 GTi on 10-15-06 with 6-speeds manual. Does it include the launch control? Or VW will do a recall?

No, manuals already come with a launch control, it's called your left foot. And also no, no recall will be made.

thinking it would let you rev the car as well, rev to 3k then take off, so the 07 would be a little faster due to the lauch button, knob??

someone please explain what launch control is also anyone know what i cant do to my GTI if it is leased like is it a dumb idea to chip the car or what else can i do please give me some good ideas kinda new to this whole vdub thing but lovin the fast ;D

Odd, my dealer here in canada said there is no launch control and will be no launch control because there is no legal purpose for it..

I have a '07 /w DSG and sadly no LC.

Exactly. I have the DSG (from '06) and it's fantastic. But if you have the yearning to burnout on take-off perhaps you shouldn't worry about launch control and you should just get the manual... 8)

Launch Control? Can someone explain this to me.

I get the feeling this is a moot point for me because my '07 is a stick and not an automatic. Automatic in a Fast car? SACRILEGE!!! LOL ;D

Launch control should be here soon. This works with DSG transmissions.

1. Disengage ESP
2. Select "S" sportmode, for the gear.
3. apply brake
4. Apply gas until 3000 rpm is reached
5. Release brake, car launches.

This is how it has been explained to me by several people. If anyone else knows more about the launch control please give us your input.

I have heard there has been some debate on whether this feature will actually come to america or canada. We'll see. . .

i still dont get it whats the point anyway and i agree with BexSoCal , auto tran in a GTI phooey "SACRILEGE!!!" manuel all the way !!!

It would be sacrilege if it were a regular auto. But the DSG is awesome! It's way faster than you could shift manually. Wanna control when the trans shifts? Use the paddles.

If you haven't taken the DSG for a test drive, I recommend it. At least then you'll know what you're missing >

i did test drive it i felt like i was playing a videogame and still kept reaching fot a clutch and the stick maybe it just take some getting used to, doesnt everybody drive stick in Europe anyway O0
