Anyone ever have a prob with the absurdly expensive key. yesterday the unlock quit working, but the lock button worked. I tried to reset according to the manual, unlock worked once then quit again, now the whole thing doesn't work. I've only had my GTI for a month and a half and I can't imagine the battery is already dead. Going to the dealership today during lunch, don't want to hear that I have to shell out cash for another one.

i replaced the battery and it working again. I went to the dealership and talked to the service manager, i feel bad because I acted like a prick when he told me it was probably the battery. I didn't believe that because I could still lock the car every time and unlock intermittantly but sure enough the new battery did the trick. I felt bad for acting like a jerk at the dealership but then a cardboard box blew across the highway(extremely windy day) and hit my car on the way home so that's karma for ya.
