In my short banking career I've seen everything from janitors with $100K in savings to politicians up to their eyes in debt. One thing I can tell you for sure though is that people in the military tend to spend their [relatively high] wages like there's no tomorrow. Maybe they know something we don't.

Verizon has awesome customer service! I had a plan with them the 3 years I lived in the U.S., no complaints. They even let me cancel without penalty on the basis that I was moving out of country and didn't have the option of continuing it.
