I'm not sure if this is even a bad thing, but I test drove a Charger RT today and scared the crap out of the dealer. He was a real slimy guy and I wasn't even interested in the car, but he talked me into a test drive. I wound up drifting the car on the u-turn and having him grab the "O SHITE!" handle above the door. hahaha I guess he shouldn't have pushed the sell so hard.

I walked away after the drive and told him I was going to look at a Pontiac GTO instead

Hahahahaha, major props man. I'd give you thumbs up or beer emoticons, but please make do with this afro guy O0.
You're in the wrong sect man! This place is for sins! You just wanted to make sure the cars as good on the road as it is on the showroom floor!

They have preowned GTI's?!?! Who in their right mind would give up a GTI?
I saw my first pre-owned GTI when I went back for my plates a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't believe it. The dealer said the guy had a case of "buyer's remorse." Unbelievable. Talk about the ultimate sin...

On one of my test drives of a MKV the salesman took me behind the dealership on some crazy as s curves and said hey see how she handles. I was driving the 6 speed manual and it was amazing to be able to actually "test" a car out other than driving it around town for 20 min. I had so much fun I left that dealer and went and bought my fast somewhere else bc the salesman was a dick.

First of all, I had to applaud Alf for the picture.

The test drive you described was classic. I had a similar experience, but it was in a GTI. I had a friend along with me for the ride, so I was a bit miffed that the "rather large" salesman felt he had to cram his fat ass in the back seat for the ride too. I spent the drive "testing the vehicle stability control (ESP) and ABS". A few minutes more and we may have tested the air bags...

Okay, what about this:
1) I just "gave up" my '98 VR6 (reluctantly, and only after thanking it for being the best car I've ever had) for an '07 MKV

2) I used to be in sales (Porsche, Audi, VW, of course)

While I'm sure there are times when I haven't been in my right mind, and I've probably sickened at least a few people (I certainly hope so!), I was the kind of salesperson I would want to deal with: love the product, hate the games. Yeah, I know that whatever good karma I managed to put out there isn't worth a hill of beans in this crazy world, but. . . sigh.
