ecstuning has the ipod kit for 149.95 with free shipping. It works off the radio. I haven't found any other cheaper yet. If anyone does let me know. This seems to a fairly nice kit but time will tell mine is on the way. I will let everyone know once i get mine installed.

The VW factory ipod hook up does work and you can use the stereo controls on it but it only allows you to use playlists like CD's in the deck. NO INFO is displayed in the deck only track and disk (Playlist) number. - kinda makes the ipod useless unless you really like your playlists.

Does anyone know of a way to get the ipod info to be read on the in dash deck or allow library navigation from the car stereo controls???

Try the BRAND NEW DICE set up. I got a promo model a bit before you can buy them. It rocks. Don't bother paying for the install. The part is $160 and it's pretty much plug and play. Utilized BOTH the iPod control and alows you to use the radio controls. www.densionusa.com It is way awesome. If only someone could come up with a way to show the iPod info on the MFD. . .

OK, I got the stupid VW ipod adapter - it SUCKS. Only lets you play either the first 4 play lists or all track. Does not show track names, and disables the ipod click wheel so you can't select through normal means. All tracks show up as "Track 01-Track99" Basically, I now hardly use my ipod. The whole point of an ipod is that you can listen to whatever you want whenever. With this useless thing, I have to know exactly what I want to hear and set up playlists before I go. Save your money.

As for the radio adapters, those things are horrible - constant interference. You need to be regularly changing stations if you live in any sort of metro area.

So, anyone find anything half decent for the GTI? I want full access to my songs and NOT over the radio. I don't care if I have to navigate via the click wheel as long as the sound is good.

Thanks
S

Save your dough and use CD-Rs. You can load up your six disc changer with about 4 gigs of music and make as many folders as you want.

You can navigate via your steering wheel and you can view the song info on your radio!

Gotta love it!

Get the standard dension adapter. they make the vw one but the dension module allows you to use your ipod to control the music. you can use the stering wheel controls as well as the stereo to control track change and volume. if you have the vw one they can just (or you) switch out the module as it uses the same wiring as the vw ipod adapter.

I have gone through 3 interfaces and this is the best (for me at least)
