insurance while test driving

this is a really general question that applies beyond the gti, but since if i get the gti, it would be my first car. thus i don't currently have insurance. will this be a problem when asking to test drive the car?

It varies by dealer. Some ask if you have insurance....others just make a photo copy of your drivers license.
