this is a really general question that applies beyond the gti, but since if i get the gti, it would be my first car. thus i don't currently have insurance. will this be a problem when asking to test drive the car?
Insurance follows the vehicle. At least in my state (KS). I found that out the hard way back in high school. Never teach a girl to drive a stick in your vehicle no matter how cute she is.
The dealership has insurance on all their cars. So feel free to wrap it around a tree. Just let me know how well the airbags worked.
Twas an 85 4Runner with all the options. Of course this was back in early ninties so it was pretty slick ride for a high school kid. She lost control on a dirt road and hit all 4 corners of it along the bridge railing. Didn't total it but we did almost fall off the bridge. Just a nail in the tire was keeping us from rolling in the ditch.
My insurance paid for it all, I did get the deductable out of her, but unfourtunately that was it.
i didnt need to provide any proof of insurance here in texas when i went on my test drive, it might be because im friends with the guys at the dealership and they know me, however i was 16 at the time i test drove it.
i test drove one today, and i didnt need any proof of insurance just a license and a parent. in florida btw, i loved it!! sooo yea im getting one after i sell my 240sx @ the FF3 movie
