First off i have a 2002 VW GTi 1.8T. The first problem is that both of my front turn signals do not work, yet if I hit the headlights in the right area they work for a bit until i hit a bump or something. Would it be a problem with the headlights themselves or a problem with the wiring. The bulbs for it are less than a year old so they work.
The second problem is that the air bag light comes on after the car starts. It will go off for a second as soon as the car starts but then comes back on and stays on. It happened all of a sudden I wasnt messing with any wires or anything like that.
As for the lights, are you physically "hitting" the headlight, or turning the switch? The airbag light is prob a loose or disconnected seatbelt switch (the wiring). Airbags will still work (I think, help me out here guys) but the airbag light can mean different things. Might need to pull the seatbelt buckle apart and look at the wiring.

If a bump is turning off the lights, it may be a loose connection somewhere, or a wire has been rubbed raw and is shorting out. Nothing I can suggest but trace and inspect.

im physically hitting the headlights, my car for what ever reason seems to have a lot of electrical problems, i forgot to mention that my lights for the climate control doesnt work either, but if i hit the sides of it it will come back on sometimes.

at least im not the only one with that problem. its not that big of a deal to me to get that fixed i kind of like it, i just had to memorize all the setting locations.
So..rather than telling me the general fault, it may tell me exactly where the problem resides? And can it translate other light codes (i.e. the airbag light)?
I've been trying to find this for a lil while, but can't. Can someone confirm whether this is true? I've only read this on MFG, but the well known European auto shop here in Houston has told me that just because the light is on, does not mean the whole system is disabled.
If it were, due to a simple seatbelt sensor, that's the most unsafe, retarded thing I've ever heard of. "Oh guys, lets disable the air bags if ANYthing goes wrong.. sure it's just a seat belt sensor that doesn't effect the rest of the system at all, they don't need safety!"
Yea, that just can't be the case. If so, VW is the stupidest car company in the world (and I know they're not). Can we confirm this so we can all be at rest about it? lol If anyone has a link to some official documentation about this, it would be greatly appreciated.
It's all over vortex in the mod thread that's why you have to solder in resistors and stuff if you change out seats and what not
