Look up the forum on VagCom. It is a handheld diagnostic device you can buy yourself for between $350 and $600. It will allow you to reset your alarms and warning, increase rev limits etc etc.

Yep, Vag-Com is the only method I know of. You can buy the cable for around $250 and download the software free. You just need a laptop to hook up to your car and reset the reminder. Like "Gunny" said, you can also alter various other parameters with the software. It's a valuable tool for diagnostics if you plan on keeping the car past the warranty period.

Recalling this from memory so I'm not sure it's 100% accurate.

insert key
press and hold tripmeter reset
turn on key while still holding tripmeter reset
press "m" on clock adjustment

fyi: you will still need vag-com to change the service interval from 5K to 10K but at least the nagging reminder is gone.

Isn't the clock adjusted in the Multi-Function Display? I don't have a "m" or "h" button.

07GTIDSG; Which interface did you get (mini-can, hex com-can or other)?

2007 GTI: On the lower left corner of the gauge cluster there is a "h" and "m" button. The tripmeter "reset" button is on the lower right corner.

I'm not sure if the 2006 is the same.

That is exactly right and the 2006 and 2007 models are the same.

Hey, you're right! I can't believe I have never noticed those buttons. I've been driving around forever with that damn "Service Now" flashing at me. I just ran outside and made it go away! Where is it in the manual? I'm one of those guys that actually read the manual. I specifically looked for a way to reset that too. Finally I asked the service manager at the VW dealership and he said that they have to use the tool to do it. I never got around to taking it in to do that.

karma for you!!!

Hello people. Everytime i start my engine, i get a "service now" message and it driving me nuts. I know that it is a factory standard for me to take my car in for maintanence, which i already did. I had my oil change at a VW dealer and they didn't reset it.
HOW DO I GET RID OF THAT MESSAGE?
PLEASE HELP.

This topic has been covered on here before. I can't remember the instructions off hand, but there is a way to do it yourself. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find it. You DO NOT have to take it back to the dealership for this.
