I have the same problem, but I don't think you would like to do what I do. I usually compensate by letting the engine wind down a second or two before letting the clutch out to engage 2nd gear. At least it works for me, but I don't take off like a bat outta hell from stop lights or signs. To tell you the truth, this clutch has been one of the most difficult to get used to for me, especially now that the CAI and A3 throttle pipe is installed. The engine never seems to want to wind down, and when it does, it's very sudden. If I am in lower gears, and I let off of the gas to engine-brake, it will just keep going the same speed for about 3-4 seconds, then wham, the entire car lurches as the RPM's drop suddenly.

I find the slow engine wind down an advantage when it comes to rev matching on up-shifts. 1st to 2nd is always tricky though. I think I'm subconsciously doing what Eco suggests, which makes the overall acceleration a bit slower.
