High IntensityGas Discharge headlamps (HID): High Intensity Discharge (HID) is the newest headlamp technology. The HID system applies high voltage to a Xenon (zeenon) gas that incandesces to produce a brilliant glow. The amount of light produced is greater than a standard halogen bulb, while consuming less power. On the road, Xenon HID headlights appear as a bright white with a slight blue tint.

Well the HID headlamps actually amplify Xenon gas giving a scattered adjusted glow, rather than a blinding bright light that are given off from your typical replacement bulbs that a lot of people have on their cars.

The gas keep an estimated 6000K color temperature discharge which closely approximates the color temperature of natural daylight in apposition to a Halogen system, which appears "yellowish" (meaning unnatural light) in comparison.

So if its just a "replacement bulb - halogen system" then its light quality and temperature would not be as natural as High IntesityGas Discharge headlamps would.

They're standard, dude. That's why this thread was created in the Options, Systems, and Standard Features forum.

Good job on that one...

What are the bulbs closest to the center grill? I got my MkV today and the regular, brights, and fog lights don't light up the inside set of bulbs. Is that design or is there a secret?

I don't know where you live specifically, but I flash my highbeams to warn people about cops, and people do it for me all the time too, sure not everybody is nice like this, but not everybody is an asshole either.

Didn't want to make a new topic about this, but it seems relevant to this one... sort of.

Anyways, does anyone notice that when your headlights are off, you can push in the headlight switch, but when you turn it on, you can't? Does pushing it in do anything or am I just too hopeful?

It sure would be nice to use those yellow lights for DRL and the Xenon for night time driving. Btw, I notice there is no difference between the DRL and low-beam intensity. They seem to be at about the same brightness. Although the manual seems to indicate that DRL's are lower intensity. I won't be surprised if I have to change those Xenon babies soon.

I never flash anyone because I heard once that gangstas will follow you and cap you if you do that. Who knows if it's true, but I don't want to take a chance . . . .
