Ok, you guys. Solve this one!
I was out driving one night and I stopped off somewhere. When I got back into the fast, I switched on the headlights along with the foglights, as I always do. I suddenly noticed that there was an amber light on the gauge cluster that looked like a small light bulb. Then the infomation display flashed a warning....'Front Left Foglight Not Functioning'. I automaticlly thought that it was a burnt out bulb. The next day I set out to replace the bulb. My suspictions were confirmed when the filiment of the bulb was indeed burnt out. So it was replaced. Same type of OEM bulb, (same wattage as well) not an aftermarket. Now here's where the problem is. When I went to turn the foglight back on, the same amber warning light on the dash came on, same error message appeared on the display, and the left bulb does not work. After dissasembly again... the bulb was not bunt out, the harness was not burned, there is good contact between the bulb and harness.
The only explination I have is that when the bulb burned out, it sent a trouble code to the ECM saying that the bulb was burned out. This would mean that I would have to take the car back to the dealership and have them reset the ECM to clear the code! Right?? Take the car back to the dealership for a foglight bulb!!?!?!?!? For a foglight bulb that has already been replaced?!?!? Are you kidding me?!?!? I do not want to sit in the dealership for 3 hours for this!
Tell me there is something easy to fix this problem. PLEASE help me if you can.
