I am new to this forum and contemplating in buying a gti . Can you somehow retrofit or can a 4 motion system be fitted into a 07/06 GTI? If so , at what cost? Thanks for the input .

well for me get some Eagle F1 tires and its like having AWD lol...I never lose traction or slip...rain or anything...well snow can be tricky but only on tremendous incline going uphill...they cost around 1400 but I got them for about 700...awesome tires can make all the difference

Sure it can be done with a GTI as well, but for the cost and effort I'm sure it would require, please just buy an R32.

i've played with the idea of buying the r32 and swapping the 2.0tfsi engine from my fast into it....

well when I have an extra 14k somehwere Ill get it done lol...the worst part is not having a car for 8-10 weeks...the rental car companies would make a killing...

and why would you do that?

AWD and forced induction. you can tune the 2.0 for less than the 3.2 NA engine...but of course i could always just trade in my fast for the S3 when they bring it into the states.

i also have the mkiv r32 at home (my girl drives it). my fast with the APR tuning is faster than the r32 but she can kill me in the corners and off the line because of the AWD and that wonderful haldex. once you have driven an AWD sports car, it is hard to go back to a FWD. the FWD cars just don't dig in out of the corners and off the line like an AWD does.
