I used to really be into the old Sierra Computer games - you know, Police Quest, Kings Quest, etc...oh, and Space Quest was the best. I wouldn't know where to start to look for some good adventure games now, does anyone have any recommendations? I don't know if there's anything out there like the sierra games now, but anything simliar where you have to kind of solve things to get further in the game, and I also like science fiction/fantasy.

While I'm not sure exactly what kind of adventure game Space Quest is, I know that there are 6 of them, and that they all have been re-released and put into one box set last september.

Are you looking for an adventure game that focuses on humor or a good story?

If you just want to look through some games for yourself, here's a link to play around with:

I miss the good ol' days of Sierra and Lucasarts adventure games. I think the genre is entirely dead, I don't think anyone makes any actual "adventure" games anymore. The closest things are RPGs. For a space/fantasy RPG by far the best games out there are Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2. If you haven't played them I highly recommend them, even if you're not too much into RPGs.

Thalo,
Yeah, those were the good old days of computer games, do you remember the Leisure Suit Larry series? Those were hilarious! Thanks for the Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 recommendation. I will definitely check it out. I guess I'd be into the RPG's, I've never really tried any.
GranTurismo,
Thanks for your link, I'm not sure what I'm looking for with an adventure game as far as humor/good story, etc. I guess I don't want anything too complicated but still a challenge and humor would be good. I bought two games that came highly recommended on some online list and I ended up selling them on ebay because they sucked. So I definitely need some help here.

I used to be more into the Lucasarts games. Played every game from start to finish several times all the way from Maniac Mansion to Grim Fandango. After that I think they only made one or two more but they weren't any good. Didn't play too many of the Sierra games but I did play Leisure Suit Larry. And Freddy Pharkas. And Police Quest 2.

Definitely check out KOTOR, you can get it cheap nowadays. Especially if you're looking for sci-fi fantasy in particular. The story line is 10x better than any Star Wars movie and it is more or less an adventure game (though more often you're solving problems through dialogue rather than using rubber chickens and pulleys).

Did either of you play Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude?

What a seriously dissappointing game. As far as LucasArts games go, there're a few games on the horizon that look rather promising. Indiana Jones and a rumored Darth Vader centered Star Wars title. Both take advantage of a new physics engine/AI programming that make NPCs behave suprisingly human like.

I'd post links for info on both, but unfortunately, gaming related sites are blocked here at work.

I played the LSL Land of the Lounge Lizards and maybe one other one, it was so long ago! Magna Cum Laude doesn't sound familiar, but I'm thinking it was one of the newer LSL games? Now I want to play these again, I wish I had saved all these and my sierra ones.

Yeah, it came out maybe 2 years ago... I borrowed hoping it'd be decent enough to be at least a little nostagiac.

But I was wrong. VERY wrong.
