Going To Test Drive a GTI

Hi my name is Raj and I am new to this forum. I am going to test drive the fast in about an hour.....will come back and let everyone know my impressions.

Just as a background I test drove the A3 (V6) couple of weeks ago and loved it....but it turned out that the A3 is a little more than what I can afford.

Well in my experience when i went to buy a GTI i was going and looking at a used 1.8t and i test drove one of those and the dealer had me test drive an 06 MKV and i fell in love with it becareful once you drive it i can garuantee you will fall in love it is possibily the most all around fun car i have driven.
I have been to other posts and I hear people say that alot that the fast is "so fun to drive" or one person actually said "it was the best car he ever test drive" and he had tested a corvette. NOW MIND YOU it might sound like I am down on the GTI, which I am NOT. I actually am putting off my test drive for one reason. If it is as good as all these posts/reviews/videos that I watched sayes it is, I am afraid I won't walk out of the dealer without one. I am trying to be strong, trying to be careful with my money, but I also do have the urge to be a kid again!!!!!
come on... ya know you wanna test drive it... just take it for a quick spin 8). leave all yer credit cards and money at home ;D
Maybe it'd be safer to test drive other cars first and leave the GTI for last. That way you have something to compare it to and when you do drive out of the dealership in a new GTI, right after test driving it, you can say you shopped around.
lol, I was a victim 2 nights ago.. I was planning to buy my GTI in April.. test drove it last thursday.. and I couldn't resist.. I said there's no way I'm leaving without placing an order.. should be here in a week and a half ;D can't freakin wait!
Thank you people!!! All very good advise, and I will stay strong. Maybe I'll look around, but WHY??? A Honda Civic 2 door, nah(I owned a S2000 before, a nice car, good power back end was way too light), and I agree with that video I've seen around here, "a Honda is a Honda" - a Mazda, not really me. I thought about 350Z, but thats a differnet kind of car. really for what GTI offers(fun factor, comfort, feel of that thick wheel, and space, in back seat and cargo, you would thing you were driving a RAV 4. And the fit and finish on a GTI beats the Jap cars. All makes for a very nice perfect package, and puts me here today................same ole same ole :-\
Alright....first things first....sorry for not posting yesterday about my test drive.

Here it goes....I test drove a black 2 dr GTI and honeslty didn't like the feel of it. Maybe the fact that it was turbo and it was high rev'ing but just didn't feel right to me. I also test drove a Rabbit and I found it much more pleasing. Now I am not trying to come down on the GTI but I guess it is not my cup of tea. Plus, I was looking at my finances and it looks likes Rabbit is the way to go for me.

I was biased towards the GTI from the get go and walked out thinking the Rabbit is the one for me go figure.......
What transmission did you test drive? The DSG or the 6 speed manual? And the GTi isn't really high revving. Its redline is only 6500 rpms, when compared to a Civic Si that redlines at 8000 rpms. ;)
I'm a fan of the 6-speed, guess that's because I am old fashioned. Could either one sway a decision that much?

It was the DSG...and when I said it was high revving it didn't go all the way to 8K like the TSX I drive but enough to annoy me...I guess this is because of my experience with the TSX.

It doesn't bother me, I don't think it is a problem. And are you reffering to an Acura TSX?
Can you name another TSX? Everyone on this forum knows he meant Acura TSX, why did you even ask?? or was this another pointless post?

Toronto Stock Exchange?
i test drove a GTI like 2 months ago... i loved it, i couldnt control myslef and went about 130 on the highway >:D , thats the best car i have ever driven... after that i stopped lookin for other cars and focused on the VW hatchbacks... rite now im tryin to convince my parents about the R32... thats going to hard :-\ ... but we'll see
Oh and the ACURA TSX, isnt that great to drive, my cuz has one and it really wasnt as great i thought a car from acura would be, the RSX were good but the TSX performance isnt that great at all, VW would definatly win my vote on better testdrive... trust me dont waste your time test driving a TSX
turns out that im gettin a GTI insteadcuz the R32 is gonna be around 30k thats expensive, im just gonna get the R32 bodykit and just get some engine mods with the other 3k that i saved
