who can tell me if the "ding guard" for lack of a better word, that runs along both door outer door panels is easily removed?? I am thinking it would streamline the look of the car... if its simply adhesive keeping that trim on, (and no i am not talking about the black lower portions of the car) Any takers?

Re: Exterior

It pulls off very easily. You may just have to rub the adhesive glue off but it comes off smoothly and at worst case you will have to wash it. And it does make it look streamlined. I took it off both of mine.

I like the look of it too. It seems like it breaks up the door. The door would look kind of weird with that much 'flat area'.

Also, before I go ripping mine right off the door, are we absolutly sure that it is only held on by adheasive? It would really suck to get half of it removed only to find that there is a plastic rivet or something that leaves a nice hole in the door.

I was thinking about taking it off before I saw that it saved my door from many dents, cause I still go to highschool, and all these kids that park near me are selfish assholes that slam their door into mine.

Kids?!? It's the hundred year old geriatrics with licenses that you have to worry about. (You know...Catteracts with Cadillacs.) My old lady had her brand new 2007 Passat a little less than two weeks, just passed 600 miles, when in the parking lot of the Acme, a nice old man confused the 'R' with 'D' and left her bringing the rear bumper cover home in the back seat!

Hey my bad. I have pics of my 06, But I cant get them posted. I will take some of my 07 tomorrow and post. The door things are really held on by adhesive. I took them off both of my MkV and one of my buddys. Washing and light scrubbing may be necessary. But who doesnt want a clean fast?!

Re: Exterior

I once witnessed an old man trying to park in a space in a parking garage. It wasn't a tight spot or anything, he just wasn't able to quite get his car in there right. He'd pull in, scrape against the car on his left, then pull out again... adjust... pull back in, scrape car again, pull out, adjust, and so on. I was just sitting in my car in disbelief, thinking is it worth the risk to try to go past him?

i didnt understand what you guys were talking about before but i do now... that would be nice to take off. they really are only good for when you are at a shopping center and some old lady hits yer door with her shopping cart. other then that i cant picture them protecting yer car from dents too much.
