i think is is BS ... i think there real reason was $4k ... that honda is less then vw but really when u think about it GTI is much better of a car, looks better and if we wanted to really do it .. we should have them test R32 vs Si since Si is a upper version of standard Civic and R32 is a upper version of GTI

the bottom line .. VW for Life .. GTI

that comparison was fiar the R32 vs. SI wouldnt be, yes the SI is an uper version of the Civic but the GTI is an upper version of the Rabbit in all reality so they are in the same class

Comparison and recommendations aside.. I wanted a GERMAN car, not a Japanese car. I didn't even consider any Japanese cars, my choices were Porsche, Audi, VW and BMW.. I ended up with the GTI, but could have afforded the others.. I drove a Honda Civic for nearly 10 years and 260000 miles. Honda has its place, it's a good car, but if you want a German car for the German engineering, no review will sway you. A Seiko is FAR superior to Rolex as far as accuracy and price is concerned, but if you are looking for a Rolex the Seiko just won't do.

I chose a VW, because I didn't want anyone spraying my car with this stuff:

I considered Porsche and Audi, but I know I'd get killed with the maintainence costs on the Porsche (I'm the only one in the family who has never owned a Porsche and was considering last year an older 911 for a track car.)

I'm, so far, beyond happy with my fast.
