So I'm driving back from a party last night and by E-Brake light comes on saying that the E-Brake is engaged and the handle is all the way down but I cant get the light to go out. Anyone else have this problem??

I had the problem, but the light wasn't coming on. I came to a stop and my rear brakes were smoking and burning up badly. I'm taking it to the dealership first thing in the morning. ???

They said they couldn't get it to happen again, and they took it for a 15 mile drive....I was like surprised they drove it that far, but they couldn't find anything, so I guess it was a total fluke, or I'll just have to keep an eye on it.

that is definately the worst thing, your car is messed up you take it to the dealership and its all fine. My engine was smoking one time and i took it to the dealership and about 2 miles before i got there it stopped smoking, they drove it around and couldnt get it to do it again, it ended up being fine, but i was upset that the problem went away before they could diagnose it.

So the fix on my car was that the Hand Brake switch had come out of the holder so that when I put the brake down it no longer contacted the switch there for making my light stay on all the time and hearing that lovly ding on my 20 minute commute

O well all is well now

UPDATE!!
so not even a week later the brake light is back on and the dinging has returned only this time it happened friday night and my dealers service department isnt open on the weekends so now I have the whole weekend to listen to my lovley DING DING DING DING DING!!

Ill repost with the fix when it gets done

I've had my GTI 3 weeks and it has been to the shop twice for the brakes locking and smoking up. Once on the driver side rear, This time passenger side rear.In the shop now!!!! ???
