Hi guys,

How does a GTI DSG work? Is it similar to a Manual without the clutch?
I understand that a DSG is faster compared to the Manual.
Any suggestions on which one to get?
Thank you for the help.

Nothing like technology... I'd say get the DSG.

I have a 2007 gti dsg, first of all it shifts awesome and off the line much faster than manuel,
If your going to modify the car it will hold about 240-255- whp. stock engine mods only but if your going to upgrade the turbo get manuel.
dsg drives great, also if city driving involved get dsg/

I have an '06 with DSG. I have never purchased a car that wasn't a manual. I typically hate automatic transmissions, they're wicked slow and unpredictable. The DSG, however, is awesome! I still hold onto the stick as if I'm getting ready to change gears though... force of habit.

If you're taking it quick on the twisties simply put it into "S" mode and you can keep both hands on the wheel. It's really quite impressive. I find that I still miss all the foot action sometimes, but overall I don't regret getting DSG.

I would suggest manual in a regular car where fuel economy and performance would be a benifit. But that's not the case with the DSG. Take a look at what transmissions formula racers use. I believe you'll find high performance autos in the majority of them.

My suggestion is to drive both and do some serious contemplation.

I too have a DSG and shift with the stick more often than not. I use the paddles sometimes, but it's hard to break tradition. I love it, and it's great in the city and in traffic. The only thing I miss is the ability to reach for the stick and know what gear I'm in. Looking at the dash for current gear is something I'm not used to, and throws me for a loop sometimes, like when I have to go from 5th to 2nd due to a sudden slowdown. But it's still the best! I only hope it catches on in general, or I'm gonna have to keep this car until it's run to the ground. I would never enjoy a regular auto, but I'll take this guy over a manual for day-tp-day driving.

I read that the DSG switches gears faster than any human can possibly shift, so I'll take the DSG.
You believe everything you read on the internet?

Well then: DrJones has the biggest wang in the world.
bro, its fact. look at 0-60 times on any site and compare a manual test vs automatic. the dsg is quicker then manual.

Guys, this doesnt need any discussions, DSG is way way faster than manual gear, even with the best and fastest driver...it's not about what we read only, you can see how the DSG works..
using the manual gear, even if u need half a second to switch between gears, DSG does it better...
for anyone who wanna buy a new GTI, no need to be confused, DSG is the best and most important technology in this car,so dont miss it... ;D

For me,i advice everyone to buy a gti with a DSG... >:D
when you watch this "DSG review" video, u will be convinced... >:D

Yes... but is it funner?

The same argument can be made that it's better to be chauffeured in a Maibach than to drive an Aston Martin... but is it funner?
