I'm quite happy with my choice of DSG. If I want to raise a little heck, I can shift. If I want to travel in the "lazy mode" I just drop it in drive and step on the gas. I also think were you live (urban rural ) would also have to be considered. I would think all that shifting in traffic would be a real pain. I also went with the DSG cause the wife can but won't drive a manual. So the choice was very easy.

Er... the wife not driving manual actually enticed you to buy automatic?

It probably does, I think it's idiot proof. My father has an Audi with "tiptronic" (which he always has in D, never even uses the Sport gear) and if you red-line it for too long in semi-auto mode, it'll shift up automatically. Or if you try starting from a stand still in 5th gear, it'll shift down automatically.

I don't know if it's just me or not, but I also feel that cars feel more torque-y with stick shift.

I'm afraid if I get DSG I'll end up spending all that extra money and then after the novelty wears off I'd get lazy and leave it in auto all the time. It's a fun, fast stickshift anyway.
