Most cars produced now have a release in the trunk of hatch for safety reasons. And since the GTi is a very safe car, Then I am sure it has one.
Dead Battery/Locked Hatch
Ok, maybe this is a stupid question, but when the battery dies for whatever reason :
, the hatch seems to lock itself and you cannot unlock it because there is no manual way of doing so. ...of course, one would think that the logical place to keep jumper cables would be in the hatch someplace, right? ... so....
