So all over the place, I'm seeing various chips for the MkV GTI being mentioned, with supposed rises in HP up to 250HP (on average of what everyone says). What I'd like to know is...

Can anyone who chipped their GTI tell me what sort of HP reading they're getting? And also.. torque readings would be appreciated greatly. Everyone seems to leave out what I consider to be the most fun in a car... damaging your neck with high torque!

Thanks.

I poasted in the two other forums. I have the APR software that you are talking about. They claim 252 Hp and 303 Tq, but i havent dyno-ed it. I am doing some other stuff with them and might try to talk them into letting me dyno my MKV when i get evytg installed.

The chip from apr isnt really a "chip" per-say, but rather, it is sofware that they load onto your ecu through the diognostic port. THe software has the option to change back and forth between a stock program, one for 91 octane, and one for 93 octane. THey also have a "lock-out" feature that allows you to lock the ecu in the particualr program which you have selected and it can be neither accessed nor changed unless you enter a speficic code. Sooooooo, if you get the sofware, as long as you remember to reset your ecu back to the stock program and lock it, it would be virtually (though APR claims literally because of the encoding process that they use) impossible for the dealership to detect the software. so yes, it would technically void your warrenty, but no, they wont find out about it.

I have the APR software and all I can say is WOW!! I would get it now, if worried about the warranty get the option for switching back to stock and the lock out option too. I had a 2001 Jetta with upgraded software and had the dealer do all the service and I don't think the dealer had a clue that is was not stock. If they did they never said anything. I never had any warranty issues though. My Jetta had over 70,000 miles on it and it ran just as good the day I tradded it in as it did the day the upgraded software was installed. Good luck

I had my MKV dyno'd after the GIAC software was installed and to the wheels it was measured as:

225 hp

248 lbs of torque

The GIAC web site has there dyno data as 238 hp and 265 lbs of torque...so taking in dyno variability you have better idea of what gains you are looking at.

Of course, YMMV >:D

But it is wicked quick and wicked fast now >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D

But I do have a turbo back exhaust and a a NeuSpeed P-Flow intake...

So YMMV, there is definitely the variability in the dyno's used, the one mine was tested on seemed to be quite old...so the accuracy could be suspect.

It was tested before the GIAC software was installed (w/turbo back exhaust and p-flow intake) and to the wheels it was 196hp and 202 lbs of torque.

So I am looking at a 15% increase in hp and a 20% increase in torque with the software.

I think I am close to the line where I am maxed out with both torque and hp for the front wheel drive MKV... :-\
