I have the stock "Panasonic Premium 7" head unit in my '06 GTI. Does it support random mode for the CD changer interface? I can't seem to find any buttons that are supposed to put the CD changer into random mode.

Look in you manual... If you hold down the the scan button, bottom right i think.. U can go into options there is a setting to shuffle the 1 CD playing or all CDs.

As far as the random mode, push and hold down the scan button and then select the mode you want by pushing the station preset buttons. To actually start the mode, hold down the CD button until you see your random made selection displayed in the upper right hand corner of your headunit.....However, I have an 07 and can get my radio to randomize within a disc, but it never changes from one disc to another even when I have selected "mix-Mag", can anyone give me some insight as to why it never changes discs? Secondly, the Auxilary jack is in the upper right corner in the glove box, it is a white rectangular pplate with a 3/8 headphone style input jack.

You should be able to play anything through it that can connect to a jack of that size. You can run your laptop or anything like that to it is what I was informed of. I haven't tried it yet, but if you can connect a freakin guitar into it, then I am sure you can plug an iPod into it, given you have the right cable. O0

Right side of glovebox. Get really low b/c it's on the roof of the glovebox.

i wish my 06 came with the i pod connector. the 2006 models come with the glove box light and the 2007 come with the i pod connector

I also have an '07 and I haven't figured out how to get the CD player's mix mode to activate either(just like Fat Chris was saying). I can only get the mix mode to work on one disc at a time but not for all six discs. I figured it was something I'd have to get the dealer to look at....so, if anyone else has the same problem, let's hear more.

I have only ever put one CD in my stereo. MP3 player and sat radio for me

Here, too. Same problem. Magazine mix mode still only works one disc at a time. Will note to dealer as well.

I took my ride into the dealer the other day and had them look at the mix mode misfire...according to them, the GTI does not come with a mix mode for all 6 discs...just mix mode on one disc. Does this not seem ridiculous? So far, my general impression of the dealer can be filed under useless.

It's because it takes so damn long to switch between the CDs. Anybody else notice this abnormally long wait when you switch CDs? Especially like from #1-#4.

I took my ride into the dealer the other day and had them look at the mix mode misfire...according to them, the GTI does not come with a mix mode for all 6 discs...just mix mode on one disc. Does this not seem ridiculous? So far, my general impression of the dealer can be filed under useless.

Why; because he lost his magic wand and couldn't make it do as you pleased? The dealer didn't design it, man.

1. I hope that 34k is not American?

2. Yeah, dead on. It has "magazine mix" mode. What would that represent? When you pay a bunch for a car, you want at least a decent stereo. It should actually play songs randomly from the magazine in magazine mix mode. The dealer didn't design the car, but they are still responsible for it!

If you bought a cd changer from Best Buy and it didn't behave as expected, I bet they'd replace it...

Just went out to check all this out on mine and all works but was fairly involved. For my 07', press and hold down the scan button for more than 2 seconds, thiis opens the settings menu. Scroll thru to mix play and select option you want then press and hold the scan button for more than 2 seconds once again. Now, to activate your choice hold down the CD button for more than 2 seconds and your choice appears in the upper right of the radio display. hope this helps
