So i bought my 06' GTI from some guy in Chicago and he says that you have to put a quart of oil in every 1,000 miles. Is that normal? Should i check something to see why it is burning so much oil? Any suggestions?

it kinda common on early mkv but im not 100% on that

think there was a fix but im not sure on that either

the mkv guys should be more helpful

I have a 07 mkv and I only add half a quart every 3-4k miles. Mine doesnt burn too much oil yet. BTW Im at just under 30k miles.

I have an 06 MKV Mine dosent burn oil but it is a common accurance. My friend is a vw tech in pa and says they were replacing piston rings on warranty!!! So if you still have a warranty check it out.... Its not a recall so I think your only chance with no out of pocket is that waranty.

A quart every 1k? That makes no sense, should be more like 3k imo.
