What I typically do when I have rust on my wheels is, you know, drive somewhere.

That takes care of it.

I noticed it too and was freaking out at first, then I drove and the calipers brushed the layer of rust away. Guess that happens normally with brakes?

I think he's talking about the rust line on the actual wheels. And yes, brake rotors will rust when left in the rain. You don't need brake "wipers" to clean your rotors, brake pads do a pretty good job. Those brake wipers are meant for wet weather. I've actually driven race cars with brake "mist-ers" on them to cool the brakes. I have no idea what all this means that I'm typing, I must be out of it.

You're probably righ, I didin't notice that rust line until you pointed it out.

You know, though, he should be glad he got the 18"s. The 14 spokes are a bitch to clean.

At least those are pretty easy wheels to clean. If you have the honeycomb style....forget about it.

All rims and brakes, on all cars, rust. It just happens. It isn't a specific GTi issue. ???
