What city r u from? There's a shit load of 2-dr GTI (MkV) in Arizona. The 4-dr version is still hard to lay hands on.

If you got cash and are serious about buying, try hooking up with a fleet mgr (from any dealer) or an auto broker. They'll get you what you want.

why don't you take a trip to the States and get one? Canadian dollars is running high against US so it would not be such a bad idea.

I was looking at the Toyota FJ Cruiser as an alternative to GTI (I know .. not a good comparison). And out here in the "rugged West of Arizona", they don't even have one on the showroom. And yes, the wait is 16 to 18 weeks with 2k - 5k mark up over MSRP. I love cars and stuff but they can have their FJ Losers 'cause I am not playing their game. Having a hot item that they can't even keep on the floor is a salesman's wet dream. But it doesn't have to translate to my financial demise either ...

Volkswagen is retarded. They must have allocated 20 GTIs to the US for every one to Canada (we're actually 1/10 of the population). In the U.S. everyone seems to buy below MSRP cause the dealerships are really trying to sell them, here in Canada it's like "what, you don't want to pay MSRP? Okay fuck off, I've got 10 other people wanting to buy this car"

Re: All sold out... (but not really)

Well, I don't know what is up with my local VW dealer. He stated there were none available even before making colour/package choices. Well, a little looking online and I found a great BRAND NEW '07 just one province over (Alberta) at another VW Dealer.

It is actually different then the one I ordered, but I actually like it just a bit better, well actually alot better when you factor in that 4 month waiting period. It's white and has the 17" rims, but I was going to buy new ones anyways and the white matches my current Integra.

So, all said and done, it only cost me an extra 600 to get shipped. But I saved 900 not getting the 18" rims.

And now I will soon have my car :)

Searching for 2005-2007 VW GTI's there are only 17 listed across canada.

11 of which are 2007's out of which only 1 was new (the one I got ;)

seems most of the 2007s for sale are demo's also.

The story continues...

So I goto the local VW dealership today to see about getting my deposit back and the dealer says he will go figure it out. So I'm standing around for a good 15-20min and he comes out and we talk a bit more. I mention to him, like I had said the other day, the colour did not matter as long as it was not red or silver. This seemed like it caught him by surprise and I told him again that It just had to have the DSG & Leather. So, he now says that he should be able to get one for me and asked if he could have 24 Hours to try and get it. I said ok as I have only given a depost at the other dealership and not signed any papers. He also said they would cover the deposit and I would not be charged the $600 shipping it would have cost to get the one the province over.

So, I'm actually hoping the local dealer comes through as that means much less hassle for me. We'll see and hopfully I'll have more info tomorrow or by email tonight.

I will get my GTI one way or another! :)

It's monday now, spoke with the dealer again... They have found me a brand new Black '07 VW GTI 2.0T and I should have it sometime this week! Woo woo!

It's not the united grey I started with, or the white I last thought I was getting, but I do really like the look black, especially with that bit of red trim in front :)

Sooo.... Hopefully in a few days I can post again with 'I GOT MY CAR!' ;)

It's been a struggle, but it will be worth it I believe :)

I've always wanted a Golf/GTI since I was in high school. Something about the car really appeals to me. (I love HB's)

I've had a couple friends give me a bit of a weird look when I tell them the cost all said and done and the specs of the vehicle. Always those people out there who are like, 'You could have got car X for $Y! and it has Z horsepower!'... then I have to explain, thats not the damn car I want! :p

But back to waiting.. hope its early this week like the guy made it out to be :)

Seriously, there's many other cars I could have gotten, but did I want any other car? No, I wanted the GTI. Nowhere else can you find what this car has to offer, and no other car is as well balanced between luxury and sport, while keeping a youthful experience as the GTI is.

"You should have gotten a [type of car]"
Sure, if I wanted to look like a [insult] with a [rediculous description of car using a cliche]...

Exactly GranTurismoInjection... I can save the Pure Luxury or Insane Sport car for my next vehicle :p I like the balance with the VW.

Whoot! Dealership called today, getting the financial stuff done then the car is mine! Now I just need Future Shop to repair my camera and give it back so I can take photos :)

Thats profiling!

Good for you that you didn't get it tonight though, cause if you got it tonight, there would be a ticket in your hand. It's that fun.

I got my GTI tonight!!!

All I can say is WOW! Versus what I'm used to driving this thing sure has some kick. I didn't do too much driving tonight, but I can't wait for tomorrow when its light out. Gotta be good though and break the engine in proper. ;D

I sure do love the black and the leather heated seats are great too! It ended up having the 18" wheels which also, again, just look awesome :)

Anyways, maybe I'll be less biased in some future posts. Until then I only know the word awesome to describe this car.
