Car won't go into 1st gear, Son said he went to 1st from 3rd at about 30 mph. Said he heard a noise, now can't shift into 1st. All other gears seem to be fine. ANY Suggestions??????

not sure why going from first to third would mess anything up? but I'd start out by adjusting the shift linkage, its easy and free to do and might fix the issue

I think he said His kid went from 3rd to 1st at about 30 mph.

oh my bad totally read that wrong... shift linkage will probably not help in this case...

thanks guys, I've tried to put it into 1st by hand, under the hood with the shift input to the trans. I can get it into ALL the other gears with no problem. But when I try to put it into first it's like hitting a brick wall.. Every thing I've heard about this is that more than likely the syncro came apart and jammed 1st gear.???
